The URYXXON Relax is an automated urine strip analyser that provides objective and standardised interpretation of urinalysis test strips. It is designed to reduce the variability associated with manual visual reading, improving accuracy and consistency in diagnostic screening. The device uses reflectance photometry to measure colour changes on reagent strips, which correspond to various analytes such as glucose, protein, blood, and leukocytes. It is commonly used in primary care, laboratories, and screening environments for the detection of metabolic, renal, and urinary tract conditions. The system offers fast analysis, user friendly operation, and connectivity options for data transfer, making it suitable for routine clinical use.
The URYXXON® Relax is a reflection photometer for the analysis of urine test strips. The test strip moves below a fixed measuring head on a strip feeder with an embedded reference pad. The reflectometric analysis of the test strip and the reference field take place during withdrawal and release of the strip feeder.
The strip is illuminated with an LED and a detector registers the intensity of light reflected by the test strip at three different wavelengths. Using an internal algorithm, the results are calculated from the reflection values.

The Uryxxon® Relax analyser can test a broad range of analytes thereby making it viable to use in different clinical settings. Instrument-read results offer a distinct advantage over visual interpretation of results in that there is no subjectivity introduced as a result of colour blindness, or even a simple issue like poor lighting conditions in the area where the test is carried out. This is vitally important when you have to screen for potential conditions or diseases affecting the kidney or urinary tract. The Uryxxon® Relax analyser is the perfect partner for the Medi-Test Urinalysis range, accurately reading the test strips and providing a printout of the quantitative measurements of analytes. The Uryxxon® Relax is also now fully POCT1A-2 compliant and this allows it to be connected to various Patient Record Management Systems.
Easy User Interface
The Uryxxon® Relax is portable and is a standalone Point of Care system which is password protected. It has the ability to connect to a barcode scanner, keyboard or the PC and of course to a LIMS/HIS network. The instrument has a simple easy to use touch pad interface and the built-in programme accounts for test strip development time.
